FAQ
Absolutely. The calculator uses the unit of measurements outside of what is standard in the USA. Our cube sizes are in centimeter, and weights are measured in kilograms and grams.
An annual subscription provides 12 months of access to the Raw Dog Food Diet Formulator | Menu Builder. With this subscription, you can create, customize, and analyze up to 5 unique recipes online. Easily add, remove, or edit ingredients as you build each recipe, and instantly see a detailed breakdown of the nutritional content.
As you develop your recipes, you’ll gain valuable insight into which nutrients your dog’s meal provides, identify potential deficiencies, and ensure that caloric requirements are met. This empowers you to make informed choices for your dog’s health and well-being.
A nutritionally complete diet provides all the essential nutrients a dog needs in the right amounts and proportions for their life stage, supporting overall health and well-being.
The standard the Raw Cube abides by is the Nutritional Research Council (NRC) standard. Which is separate from the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO).
Cube Molds are our way of standardizing the weight and sizes of the recipe. Think of it in the US as cups, teaspoons, etc.,
The Cube Molds are generic in that the same sizes are available on Amazon and cooking stores. We did it this way to make the cube molds available for everyone/anyone globally and to provide alternative and affordable options.
Using Raw Cube Molds ensure the most accuracy in reflecting the calculations of the platform but is certainly not required.
Small Cubes : 1 inch x 1 inch x 1 inch (2.54cm) | Cube Weight approximately 32.6 grams (1.15oz)
Large Cubes : 2 inch x 2 inch x 2 inch (5.08cm) | Cube Weight approximately 99.2 grams (3.5oz)
There are many variables that impact the accuracy of the calculator and recipe. Some of it is based off nature, the others may be subjective.
- Activity Level of Dog : Dogs can have different activity levels but also the intensity would make an impact as well. (ie., walking outside for 1 hour vs running outside or hiking with high elevation for 1 hour differs in Caloric requirements)
- Breed & Age of Dog : there are studies done suggesting that the breed of dog with addition to weight can be impactful on the nutritional requirements and caloric requirements but there is not enough data to support these at this time.
- Nutrient content of food - Two Livers from two different cows can have two totally different nutrient profiles. This analogy is relevant with all ingredients listed and similar to any commercial dog foods out there.
- If Users are using cubes, how much meat/proteins they are packing into the cubes alter their weight at the time of feeding.
Key things to note: Gauge your pet - if he/she appears to have a stronger appetite feed more quantity. If he/she is gaining weight, reduce the amount of food. You can alter it as it best fits customized and unique to your dog(s).
The Diet Formulator is not aimed for perfection - it is aimed at giving pet owners a better understanding of where they may fall short in key nutrients and striving for the nutritionally balanced and complete food.
